Anyone selling the AFE air filter to replace the stock filter? Let me know. If anyone has an opinion on this filter versus the K&N, please also share.

Thanks.

Are you asking about aFe CAI (aka HAI)? If so, don't waste your money.

the best performing drop in filter is the BMC or Helene.
Bmc is used by F1 cars. I wouldn't go with the AFE filters, you will lose power if you use their cold air intake system.
There have been many dynos done to show the AFE CAIs get extremely heat soaked causing a loss in HP.

If you seach for it in the upper right hand corner you will find many threads regarding afe loss of hp

I think he is asking about the afe drop in filter, and I believe jlevi carries them.

I still wouldn't recommend going with the afe drop in. PM RPiPower, Nerweezy and or Trinity Autosport for the BMC drop in.
The BMC or Helene has the best performance gains.

Why aFe? I dont care if aFe sells it for $20. Go get urself a BMC or K&N. I don't care if aFe sells an exhaust for $100. Go for RPI. Has aFe ever even contributed to the forums???????

Here's what aFe can do to possibly save its ass:
1) Contribute to the forums.
2) Do some dynos to prove that it does or does not work and their plans to make it better.
3) If they come out with exhausts, do pre and post dynos. No one cares about just sound. We want both!

But I dont think as JLevi has said that a XX,000,000 annual sales company will do that. They will forget about the BMWs and move back to their Ford F150 intakes which is their best seller. Reviews for aFe for other vehicles are VERY good. But just the BMWs arent good.

EDIT: Some useful info:

Thanks for all the replies! I remember the AFE CAI Intake was a huge bust. I was just talking about the drop in air filter. BrabusW209AMG definitely set me straight. I guess it doesn't really matter according to the link that was posted? Anyway, I'm going to look for a BMC or K&N.

Race Precision, Inc. (RPI) uses BMC simply because:

1. they are the best quality

and

2. they enhance performance the most

No cutting corners here, pun intended.
