One of our customers recently did a comparison, the Mtech 2.1 was not as bright.
It's on Bimmerfest

There is a thread on the board to how to wire it as DRL.
If its brighter on one car chances are good it will be brighter on all. However I think another customer on here also did a compare bit can't find the thread.

This is an extrememly helpful DIY guide but all, remember 1 thing, If you dont have LED's in your car I would personally not advice this. Powering the footwell light wire directly into the Angeleyes might cause the angel to draw a heavy amount of current from a source that is not meant to support that kind of load.
Also, going brighter from 3 watt leds to 5 watt or 8 watt only causes you to draw more and more current.
To be safe, I used a relay
Using a relay has its own advantages and disadvantages
1. Minimal load on car's existing wireing (advantage)
1. No Fade Off effect (Disadvantage)
Good points TRB.
However, I want to point out this information. I can't remember where I found this documentation, but as I understand, the circuit that powers the welcome lights are capable of handling up to 100w; I am sure it'll be fine.
