My E60 has Halogens, but they are the projector type, so at the recommendation of many of you I contacted brabusw209amg to ask about HID upgrades and AE upgrades. John (as he goes by) was nice enough to answer all of my questions. I received my AE upgrade last week and set out on Friday afternoon to install it. Because I have huge hands, I had to remove the headlight. I found this to be quite easy. Every time I do anything on the BMW, I am amazed at how well put together it is. Everything fits perfectly, lines up perfectly..unlike any other US made car I have ever owned..Anyway removal of the headlight was straight forward per brabusw209amg DIY guide, installed the new AE bulb and put it back together. Works perfectly. Looks great. 6000K is a nice bright white. I would recommend this kit to anyone who wants to upgrade to a brighter, whiter AE. Plug and play. I will try to take a pic tonight..

Thanks for all your advice and guidance. I truly appreciate it.

Thanks for the recommendation! and yes, BMW does put everything nicely. Mercedes, which I HATE disasscembling things, makes everything hard to get to. So does Audi. Or maybe it;'s because I do BMWs all the time and got used to it. I can remove a 3 series bumper in minutes. LOL

Definitely take some pix!!
