I think it's actually part of the glass -- there's probably something like an LCD screen or some polarizing screens that react to an electrical charge.

I know someone who has one of these windows in his home where at a press of a button, the glass becomes opaque and can be turned back to transparent with another button press...

I seem to remember that "KITT" had the variable tint feature back in the '80s...

I used a bathroom that had that. The room was all glass then when you hit the switch it does that same effect. Just hope it does not loose power during the daytime. They may have a few unhappy (or overly happy) customers! Not sure how it works but could be really cool if they could make the windows black! No more cop problems!

its special glass, very expencive and needs a constant current to stay clear, once the juice is cut off the glass crystals up. they make it for license plates too... i believe to get your plate done its like 500$ ish. not to mention its highly illegal and theres only a few people in the usa that will do it for you... doing your entire car wouldnt be a good idea especially if theres a bad connection while driving haha
