I bought the car about a month ago and it came with the Aux input already installed and programmed. I just got an OEM Most Ipod interface kit from a buddy of mine and it looks like the install is pretty straightforward (thanks for the great pics and DIY Schulrog)... Does the Interface kit take the place of the Aux in adaptor though? I'm a little confused.

TIA

So does that mean I can run an Ipod Interface and an aux input at as well(for an XM receiver)? I was under the impression that it was either one or the other...at least thats the way it was on my E-39 (the Aux input took the place of the CD changer if I recall).

you should be able to... ipod is connecting through cd changer so if you have a cd changer you will loose them... but there should be no problem. i got aux and bmw said i can do it too.

I have seen these pics at the Apple site, where they show that u can connect the ipod with a special cable - One side 30pin ipod plug, and other side is 3.5mm jack to go into AUX-IN port, and with this, you can browse the ipod completly from the iDrive itself! how is this possible? and is this possible in all cars with an AUX in port?

Here is the link to the pics:

Thanks.

If you look more carefully you will notice that the one side of the cable has two connectors, one stereo 3.5 jack & one USB. This cable is for the BMW IPOD/USB 6FL module.
