Adding BMW iPod adapter - is £360 a good price?

According to Sytner in Coventry, I can't play MP3s. Mine is a 2005 525d with M-ASK.
Solution: Get the Dension GW500, throw it in and see if it works. If not, get the CD changer software upgrade. According to posts here, people have gotten MP3 track names and the like showing on the iDrive from the GW500 without the MP3 software upgrade.
Sytner quoted me ?150 for upgrading the software to accept a CD changer. The printout I have says "CD preparation". Googling the code suggests that it *might* be CD changer preparation. Hopefully I won't need the software upgrade.

Here in canada my cost for the ipod kit was $316 CND, then to reprogram would be 3 hours at $130 labor...Giving me a total of $706 plus tax! Im still undecided
I too am undecided. Here is my quick assessment after 1 day!
pros:
- no more alternator whine while iPod plays
- volume is balanced with radio (don't get blasted when switching from ipod to fm radio)
- song is paused when I get a phone call and resumes when I hang up
- clean install...ipod is tucked away out of site, no wires draped over the center console
- keeps ipod charged
- track info shows up on the iDrive Screen
cons:
- slow to start up
- slow to scroll
hmmmm, it appears it is all good, just slow

My Ride: Black metallic 525 Petrol 215 bhp, Black leather, electric seats, sat nav, bluetooth, I pod interface, engine re-map, K&N sports filter
I have been quoted ?368 for the I pod kit from main dealer, I had to bargain them down from ?514. You have a good deal
I have the factory fitted bluetooth and asked at the service desk if the fresh coding would improve the bluetooth performance, he asked me to explain my issue and I said I could here the callers no problem but have been told that for the people at the other end whole words can get dropped. The dealer said they get `loads' of similar complaints and described the system as very basic and CR*P! However, I have learnt that if I talk a little slower than normal when the bluetooth does drop out people can still work out what I was saying. It's worth noting that the majority of compatible phones with the BMW Bluetooth are mainly Nokia...From the user end having the phone through the I drive is an absolute breeze, if the call is quick 30 seconds no problem - but when your talking to your nearest/dearest (and they feel confident in telling you the truth) in that they can't hear you - it's not good
Hope this helps towards you making a decision
