Hello All,

If I bought a set of Active Xenon headlights, with the active and Xenon module's attached. (2nd hand from a breaker) Would they work with a 525d or 530d/535d etc.....

I.e Are they plug and play or is it major drama ?

Any ideas greatly welcomed.
Any ideas how much a new Active, Xenon headlamp is also ?

I've not done the change, or even thought much about it (I'm one of those smug bast... sorry, people, who already have Xenon's).

I would almost guarantee that it will be a nightmare. Xenon's, by law have to have automatic levelling to stop searing oncoming drivers' eyeballs when you are loaded up. When switched off, these levelling servo's are in a low position. so when you switch the lights on, they raise the lights to a proper level. This level is determined from position sensors on the front and rear suspension - which you won't have. Likewise, you won't have the steering sensors for the Active bit either.

I haven't had a look at the wiring diagram for the lights, so I don't know if the plugs/pins are different. It's worth getting hold of the Wiring Diagram DVD to check this - it will also show you the extent of the extra bits required.

Sorry to be so negative. I do hope that you do have a serious go at fitting them (even without leveling/active) as I am sure there are many out there that would like to have Xenon's instead of normal lights.
