Is it a special ACM ?

USB : ?233.54 from BMW-AG

The warehouse man told me ?450+vat the ACM (they have it there because a customer asked it then refused) and the USB ?260+vat .

This is cool but until I see something that clearly specifies this will be available in the US (as a retrofit), I'll remain skeptical. We never get any of these cool things over here...
Maybe if you guys could contact Gary and foward the pdf - maybe he can chase up some reliable info on this.

Btw, is installing that hard? or is it overrated in hardness? (ACM Module I meant)

If you know how to install an aftermarket audio system, add Aux-in and replace CCC, then you can easily install the ACM module

I have the very first version of the ACM module installed, my USB interface will be here in about 5-6 days, so I'll let you guys know shortly...

print out the pdf here and Nick's translation...all the part numbers are present - that's the most important.

Installing the ACM is not hard - but there is a lot of work involved : wiring to the rear, centre console removal to get to the idrive knob etc.

Andy, this sounds almost too good to be true!
What a perfect way to have all imaginable media on your idrive screen! Thank you for sharing this news!!
I will try to ask dealers in Luxembourg and Trier for their quotes (although ones in Luxembourg seem not to know much about our cars.... )

Anyway, please keep us updated on the installation progress (of course, I assume you will go for it?)
If it all works as they describe, I will seriously consider such mod, even though it is a bit pricey....
I am only wondering how to find out whether ACM+USB will be compatible with the 6th generation iPods (160G and with their sending the video out (it is not via USB cable, but only via a special Apple converter cable which ends with either component or composite cables). This is the Ipod I use and I could have lots of fun having all the videos on the idrive screen if it all worked this way... WOW!

yeah, it's definately an interesting oem mod. I'm concentrating for the moment on my exhaust mod and possibly BBK - so it'll be a while before I get around doing this - I think Nick will beat us to it - he'll have all components by next week...

Installing the ACM is quite a lot of work if you are not familair with removing the trim of your car. It took me a couple of days before the install was complete. The good news is that it does NOT neet coding.

I now see that my ACM is already an older version as I have no menu option "USB".
