Default 7 buttons iDrive controller retrofit (Pictures)

Old iDrive single button controller to the latest controller with 7 buttons retrofit.

Rough cut getting there.

Messy job

Turned out very nice.

What function does that option button give you?

The buttons version looks smart and does what it says on each button
There are shortcuts if you want. No need to roll and click sevetsly times to access a particular feature such as nav, radio etc. You click it is there.

I installed mine the other year, and I have to say it's been one of my favorite mods! Coding is required though. I assume you had to as well using winkfp or did you use something else?

impressive! i always remove the enter center console for cutting out the new hole...nice to see you were able to do it while leaving it in place

Radio was already up to date.
I normally update the car with ista/p / icom first, then I do the mod.
No coding was necessary.

Is the wiring plug and play? Do I need to code or can I just plug in and go?

The plugs have changed but you can reuse the plug from the old menu button. I wouldn't advice cutting in-situ too many things can do wrong.
