Let me clarify a little -- I haven't checked where mine rubs, but suspect it is the tire hitting the wheel well liner. This is based on how it only rubs when the suspension is being compressed (hitting a bump). So I think a taller, and wider, tire would have even more issues (would rub more often and over smaller bumps). My ASA wheels are 18 x 8 and I think ET 18, don't remember the offfset for certain. My car is also lowered, so that plays a role as well.

Offset is such a factor it is often hard to compare between different wheels. Even between brands/models of tires there can be significant differences for the same "size" tire.

I think the bottom line is that the wheels will be fine for sure, but the tires are not the prefect size for an E60. You could have some rubbing or might not. If the fronts rub and the backs are OK you could always replace only the front tires with matching 245/40's and save the extra pair of 245/45 for when you need the rears replaced.

Based on that website, the style 118s are a 14mm offset. Most 5 series wheels are 20, a 6mm or 1/4 inch difference.
If my head is working correctly this morning, putting a 14mm offset wheel on a car designed for 20mm will cause the wheels and tires to be 6mm closer to the fenders, maybe even stick out. Therefore a guess is they could rub. Sorry. Hoever, the M5 wheels are a 12 offset and carry 255 width front tires. That is why I think it has flared fenders.

Note some people DO go through the trouble to get the fenders rolled. This widens the lip area around the wheel well which might give just enough clearance.
It may not be worth it just for those specific wheels.

Well, I've got these wheels on my 05 E60 and they fit just fine. No sticking out and no rubbing. They fill out the wheel well nicely. Check out my profile and you'll see how well they fit!
