Been thinking, you know you probably won't need a supercharger for the Cannonball Run. Your 550i will go up to 155 max until it hits the speed limiter. If you get your ECU remapped by a vendor, they will usually remove the limiter thus your top end speed will be close to 200 mph. Vendors also claim increase in HP and torque, though I have my doubts about that. What you will get is removal of the limiter and a better throttle response. For more information about remapping look here: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=16629
Another important item, much more important than a supercharger, is a Valentine One radar detector. Time is your enemy not speed. Get pulled over to many times it will cost you valuable time. And, if you get caught doing over 100 mph there's a good chance you'll land in jail in some areas of the US. The Valentine One will help out tremendously. There are radar and laser jammers you might want to consider as well. Check this out: http://www.mr2.com/TEXT/FAQonLidar.html

Thanks for the input guys! I'm going to get a really nice set of custom wheels probably a few months after the event but right now I'm buying a house, paying to have someone completly rebuild and tune my Porsche on a $140k budget. I contacted the DPE guys and there's a set called the DPE RO5s that look sweet as hell.
The V1 will be hardwired in, and I'm going to mount a laser jammer in the front of the car. I was going to use the stuff on the Porsche but now it looks like the bimmer will need it instead!
On getting her remapped, I'm def. going to do that. Does anyone know the top speed of the 550? I've never really thought about it as its always been my slow comfortable beater car

Heezy: for 140k I'm building a replica of a 944 GTR Turbo - a car that was built in 1986 by FABCAR for Al Holbert for SCCA before the program was shut down after his untimely death. I'm getting the body done currently, doing a full tube frame front & rear, replacing 80% of the floor with aluminum, custom body panels all around with 13" rear tires 12" up front. She'll have over 700bhp from a 3.2 or 3.4 liter 4 cyl. Carbon fiber wheels from Dymag, PCCBs, centerlock wheels etc. Looking for a top speed over 215...the list goes on.
As far as the requirements for winning the race goes - not too concerned with it as I'm there for the parites and networking. Being only 24 years old, this looks like nothing but fun
