There are several reasons why a 535 would be ahead of a 550 to 60 mph,but the most logical are:
1-The 550 driver hit the gas a bit later than the 535.
2- With traction control engaged the 550 will experience a large reduction in power to prevent wheelspin. With traction control turned off I experience massive wheelspin at the start.
I own a 550 and have driven several 535 loaners and there is an obvious difference in acceleration between them. The 550 accelerates faster at any point. The biggest problem with the 550 is getting started without inducing massive wheelspin.
If the 535 has a tune it is faster than a 550 but not in stock condition.

thats what i think too. I for one have never ever got a launch w/o tirespin (traction off) or power loss (traction on), but thats also due to the fact that most of the roads here dont have good traction.

I'm fine Gene, just crazy busy at work. I have commented many times on 535 vs. 550 so I won't bore folks by repeating what I said earlier.

I have a 2010 550i (after coming from a 535i). I have to admit that the 550i takes a while to accelerate at lower speeds. If I don't estimate my acceleration needs a couple seconds in advance, I don't seem to get the good power.

I am not sure whether Sprintbooster will solve the issues, but the hestitation sometimes kills me.
Why pay for the bigger engine and take the fuel economy hit to lag behind a 535i?

I agree that at 60+ MPH, the car has great pickup.
