The car has just clocked up 6K miles, and I felt it was time to get it remapped. I've only had the car 2 months, but for over a year I've been reading thro' ppl's experiences of the various remap companies operating in the UK. The car is the LCI model and I took the time to either email or phone the usual suspects. However, I was a bit disappointed as all of them couldn't/wouldn't say if they had remapped a the new derivation of diesel engine let alone give estimates. In then end, and based on locality I went to ChippedUK based in Bromsgrove, West Mids. A fairly unassuming unit on a trading estate - they had friendly staff and I spoke to the tech there - a guy called jayson. I was reassured by the fact that they take a complete backup of the cars ecu prior to any work and store it (they provide the restore to factory/reinstall of map FOC). The backup took about 25 minutes with a grey box connected to the OBD. Jayson took the grey box away and spent a couple of hours tweaking the maps to give me a performance/economy balanced remap. They have a RR on their premises, but as I was strapped for time I didnt indulge - maybe a later date.
The butt dyno says its quicker. The ear dyno says the pressure has been raised as the turbo whistle is a bit more distinctive. Down low in the rev range theres practically no change - however for about 3k rpm and above theres some serious shove enough to push my back into the seat.
Gotta say I'm pleased with the results. I'l be interested to see if I get any more mpg whilst driving "moderately".
The price was a very reasonable ?325inc. If your looking for a remap, it would be worth considering ChippedUK.

Hi Dubbers,
Nice post pal. I too am in the same boat as you. I've read through the posts here and others suggest DMS. Just wondering why you didn't go down that route? Currently hitting around 31mpg with a comibination of motorway and town so will be interested to hear your thoughts about the mpg. Presume is around 343bhp now?
Cheers,

Congrats! Those Chipped UK boys certainly know how to price!!
Having said that, the DMS program without doubt gives you extra oomph throughout the rev range not just at the top end. The difference really is like night and day plus you get the warranty side where DMS will honour any claims that BMW refuse to, +free reinstalls, etc. Guess thats where the difference in prices between the two lies.

Cheers,
The end result should be +35bhp/+90Nm. Whether thats the case for my car, I cant quantify but it does feel faster.
As for mpg, mine does 50 miles a day motorway and 50 miles backroads and the computer is at 36.6mpg. Hopefully get it 38mpg over the next few months.

I am insured through A-plan. Underwriters are Service Landmark and they are pretty mod friendly. Iirc, my wheels didn't cost any extra and my map is insured for another 40 quid or so.

Finally got round to having the car on a RR (courtesy of a Pistonheads event). Figures we're quite good. There was a e92 335d also roaded which produced better figures +7bhp and +60lb/ft using a remap from another widely used supplier. All in all 320+bhp and average 40+mpg is a good combo I reckon.
