On the quest like many to get the quad on my 550 and I'm narrowing down to the remus quad that is built for the 530, but we are trying to figure out what the inlet size difference between the 530 and the 550 are.

Anyone?

If you know the size on either the 530 or the 550, post either or both if you know.

Thanks!

inlet pipe is about 2.5" to 3"

(i actually have my non-quad remus muffler in storage, i can go measure it exactly for you in a sec...

these posts suggest exhausts for 525/530/545/550 will all fit with some very slight modification
(i assume just changing the position of the mounts and hangers)

follow-up:
i just measured my remus - it is about 3".

i'm sure whatever you get, you can always get the exhaust shop to weld a sleeve on to make it fit.

I used a digital caliper to measure the OD of the stock pipe between the middle resonator and the rear muffler on my 545 and it was 2.91".......so 3" would be a good approximation. I'm assuming that the 550's OD should be more or less the same. We need to find out what the inlet diameter is on he 525/530 Remus quad. I asked Matt at RemusExhaustShop in the original Remus Group Buy thread about the inlet diameter and he told me to ask FANTASTIC 5 who already had that particular exaust on his car.

I hope Joe (FANTASTIC 5) does not mind me using his Remus photo here.......I think the tips in the picture are supposed to be 2.99" and they look more or less similar in size and proportion to the inlet pipe. If that is the case then the inlet pipe should be about 3" in diameter, just like the OEM pipe on the 545i. However, I would rather have confirmation of this before making a final decision. Obviously any muffler shop can weld the pipes together even if the diameters are not the same (they can use a reducer if necessary), but I would not want to have that done if the inlet pipe is smaller than the car's OEM pipe. We need to ask Matt at RemusExhaustShop to measure the inlet pipe's diameter........I think he did mention in another post that they have ordered a few of these and should have it in stock soon, so he should be able to measure it (or he can get the info directly from Remus in Austria).

rodybmw, you rock!

I'm also calling AAA muffler tomorrow to see their thoughts on a custom system with magnaflow or borla, but in all the soundclips of both of those, they are a bit too much droning at idle.. Not sure quite yet...

I'm getting confirmation on the inlet size either today or tomorrow morning.
For stocking, we are cleaning warehouse for now, we might be importing sets on the next shipment in 3 weeks.
