Hmmm... AFAIK, the "DMS route" *IS* a chip!
They quoted me ?750 inc VAT as a forum member if I visited them in Andover. ?900 inc VAT as a forum member if they visit me.

It's not a chip - it's a software re-map - downloaded to the ecu via the diagniostic port - no physical alteration.
It must be a heck of a slow data rate for them to need the car for 90 minutes!!
Seems very weird to me. What the hell are they UPLOADING(!!) to the ECU? The Da Vinci Code movie?

My Ride: e39 525i Touring, will order e61 as soon as I can decide on engine and options...
Check your fuel economy when filling up and compare it to the distance on your meter. I think that the remap might be fooling your trip computer.

As some of you know I was due for a DMS upgrade today. http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=25867
I drove in horrible rain from London to Andover to get this done and now I'm a proud owner of a 520D SE DMS e60. What a difference it makes to the car I got over 53 mpg on the way back which shows that something has changed! The car seems a lot more responsive and powered now, almost seems like a 530D now. Note: Being a 4 cyl it doesn't seem as refined as a 530D. But the difference is amazing. The car is still quite new so hopefully as it opens up a bit I'll have more fun with this.

Still not totally correct. Although no chips get changed, it does not work throught the diagnostics port on these ECU's. The ECU has to come out of the car gets opened, reflashed through BDM and put back into the car.

My Ride: 530i M Sport Touring LCI. Platinum Gray. Beige Dakota leather. Brushed Aluminium trim. Media package. Side blinds. Auto dim mirrors. Comfort seats. Storage compartment pack. Extended interior light package. HUD. DVD prep in rear. IPOD interface.
Handling might just have been the wind. I have noticed the 5 seems to be quite badly unsettled by gusts. I've noticed it on the M4 several times over the last 2 days.

@bruce_miranda
Congrats for your remap mate.
Could you pls advise if the refinement is the same as before?
Thanks.
