hi, I am not sure if it is... that is the bhp figure for a 525D which is slightly more powerfull, but If DMS gives you a certificate and warranty then good luck, I myself would not force to much the torque...

A tuning company called DMS Automotive reconfigure the engine management system using their laptop.

Gives the car more power than the 525d. 208 Vs 177. and 5 more Nm.

As the lexus 220d has over 170bhp as a headlining figure i'm sure bmw's marketing men will be knocking on the engine depts door asking for a tune up. and i reckon mid 180's bhp and around 380Nm will be standard very soon Then you may get a freebe power hike with your next cip upgrade which i believe was possible when the 530d had a power hike last year.

But what will they do then with the 2.5???205bhp? 440Nm? or is that too close to the 530d??

The only concern i would have with the 520d DMS remap would be, can the clutch handle the torque? If it uses the same clutch as the 525 then the answer is simple.

Alpina also do a mod for the BMW 2.0d with similar outputs to the DMS remap and it appears to be nothing more than a remap and a bit of fine tuning to the injectors so - id say the engine can take it

Most other remaps and tuning boxes seem to keep the output down a peg or two at around 190bhp and 390Nm.

Hartge also claimed to have a remap that was BMW approved but when i asked for a nominated dealer there was no reply. It has now been remove from their agents product list???

I've heard that the VW PDtdi's can take a big power hike but if taken to far the clutch can start to slip.

If you read this report
http://www.autobild.de/test/neuwagen/artik...artikel_id=9564
then you can see there are quality differences and AC Schnitzer seems to be one to do a quality job

That report is OK for great linguists like you Belgians
( Any country that has two official languages, despite the fact that nobody speaks either of them has my admiration )
But the German text was too tough for my ancient schoolboy expertise

Excellent reports & articles on the 535D re-maps that DMS do.

Read my DMS thread on either the front or 2nd page of this forum.

Not sure about their 520D map, but if they claim those figures then i'd be sending my money to DMS (as i already have)

I agree, loads of people all around Europe choose DMS and I have never once heard of a problem with one of their remaps, and have heard of plently of problems with others, not major problems but more like spikey boost curves etc.
One thing DMS always state is they never really push the car, they can take them alot further but making sure nothing is stressed is their main priority.

i have not tried DMS diesel tuning, but i have a friend with a 163bhp e90 diesel
chipped by kelleners to 205bhp/420nm , and he has no problems with reliability

besides i have only ever heard of two people whining about blown engines with dms...
and that are sl55 amg owners (search on mbworld, or was it rennteam...somewhere)
