5 mm spacers

Well my 12 mm spacers look very good, but when I hit a big bump or a dip I hear the side of my tires rub (rear). Haven't even had any people in the car with me so I figure it will rub even more when the back is occupied. Thinking 5 mm will place me just inside the safe zone and allow more wheel travel. Question is, do I really need bolts longer than OEM? Or bolts shorter than the ones I currently use for the 12 mm spacers? 12 mm bolts probably too long right? Need advice so I can place my 5 mm with or without bolts.
if you want a set of 10, I have them for ~$20 in black and chrome.

So the 12mm spacers bolts I have will be too long right? Not sure how deep the area you screw into is.

One of my many projects this weekend will be to remove the 12 mm spacers. I'll find out the depth of the hole. Somethings tells me they're not too deep. Looks like I'm also due for another oil change too.
