Warning to all Chicago members... My good friend just got ticket this weekend while his car was parked on the street at Montrose Harbor.. $250!!!! I just did a little research, the fine went from $25 to $250 Jan. 2009, 10x increase! He was parked on the street with out of state plates, the meter maid just left it for him!

He doesnt plan on paying it.. but I am sure it will follow him. Front tints are illegal in MI, where he is registered.. I got a parking ticket out of state last year, which I didnt pay. I then got it in the mail a couple months later with threats that they will turn it over to a debt collection agency if it wasnt paid. So Im sure he will end up paying for it eventually.

No option for a fix-it.. probably because it was just a parking ticket with the max fine checked.
His tints are somewhere around 20%, so dec dark but not limo.

The city suckss and now we just found out they are metering the parks and harbors! $1 an hour with a 2 hour max! Anything for $$$, and we already got the highest sales tax in the nation.

Thats exactly why i haven't had tints on my cars for over 5 years.

I used to get pulled over just because of the tints.

How is up to Illinois to enforce Michigan law, re: tints in a different state?

Funny I was reading something like this last night on a cop forum...basically if you are driving on their roads then you have to abide by their laws.

Good news for Illinois tint owners and owners-to-be....there is a bill that the house approved and is in it's 3rd reading (the last before passing) in the Senate to approve 35-50% tints on front driver and passenger side windows. I am waiting for the bill to pass before I get mine on. It is imminent from what I understand....
