I am not sure about the XI cars, I hear that's a different story. Are you sure even your DPE wheels will fit the car?

Just to let everyone know if you didn't see my other post, I just installed the factory F10 19" tires on my e60 and I get slight rubbing in the front. When I had the regular e60 setup I never rubbed.

Yeah trouble is I don't know what the offsets of my DPE's are, they don't tell you.

So since there is no true evidence that 40/35 combo will not rub on an Xi I will be ordering at pair of 245/35/19 and a pair of 275/30/19 - My question is, and I know this will sound dumb but I have to ask - what tire brand will give me the most side wall protection. OK I relize that a 245/35 vs a 245/35 is the same size, but are there tires that have more meat/protection then others? Thanks

I don't have the f10 wheels, just the f10 tires. I replaced the tires on my DPE wheels with tires from an f10, and by doing this I rub now. My offsets never changed I just changed the tires. I think you are making the right choice in going with the e60 recommended tire size. As for sidewall protection I personally think that they are all about the same, some might have a slight bit more of a lip that hangs past the rim but if you are going to hit a curb its not going to save your wheels anyway.

You are not correct. It does make a difference especially in the comfort of the ride since it becomes more smoother and pleasant. The 40/35 combo is significantly "taller" than the 35/30 combo and looks better on the 19' rims. It has the finished look if opposed to the 35/30 combo which seems a bit thin for the 19' rims.
