Hi guys!

Just openning this topic to aks if anyone knows where to get the plastic trim used to retrofit the new idrive controller, in the old trim piece, just making the hole on it larger and putting a trim piece that hides the cutted borders around the controller!

If someone knows where to get it, and what's it's price it would be great if you could share the knowledge!

What i want to get is the piece used on the following pictures:

Best regards

It's the cover used in the 6 series. Part number 51169169999 26.50 9/08-UP I Drive switch cover. You can order this at your local dealership. I'm getting ready for this project as well. Good Luck!

So what's the plan on this project? Are you guys updating the idrive controller? Does this require a software upgrade and anything else special or is it just plug and play to swap the old controller with the new one?

Guys... it is a "sub-project" in the CIC retrofit projects:

Quite an undertaking to cut the opening in the trim piece. If you don't think it is for you consider shipping me the trim parts and I will fit and ship back. PM me to arrange $$.

If I'm not wrong, I noticed you have a E60 2007 ! I also have a E60 , 04/2007 and would like to change the controller (with only the "MENU"-button) with the newer controller and multiple buttons. The dealer however told me that this upgrade-version of the controller would not work because they are ment to be used with the CIC-units. My car has the older CCC in it, but also the 8 buttons between CD en DVD-drive. Could it be that if this unit gets update 1 and also update 2 , the newer controller can be used alltough the dealer thinks not? If so, do I need to have one of the first models of this controller?
Hope you can give me some positiv news.

BTW: I'm new on this site and not familiar with discussion forums at all. I normally speak Dutch, so forgive me please my primitive knowledge of the Englisch language.....

So how dose your dealer deal with oct/2008 E60`s with the CCC and CIC controller then?, the CIC controller was added to the E60 in oct/2008 and the actual CIC module was not added until march/2009.
