Here the bulletin http://forums.e60.net/index.php?act=attach...st&id=81605 in there under the "Model" it stated car w/ CCC-Navigation, we non-NAV equip car don't use CCC instead we uses different computer called M-ASK so enabling MP3 on our non-NAV model is not as simple (maybe impossible) due to different hardware.
On car w/ NAV there is a way to enable MP3 on the CD dash via software update and supposely it's free (maybe depending on the warranty coverage based on the model year) but on car w/ non-NAV to be able to play MP3 may require physical in dash CD replacement (if I'm not mistaken) due to hardware limitation.
But don't take my word for it, try show it to your dealer if its apply to your car and let us know how it goes.

Where and what is this "bulletin?"
Is this something that is supposed to work on my E60 2004 but doesn't because of a recall type thing?

when i took my car for service '04 e60 built date 09/03, i asked my SA if there is any possibility for a retrofit (software/hardware) so my car can play MP3. she said i am a month shy for a retrofit. on my built date, it is impossible for a retrofit. no nav, no BT but with 6-disc changer. im just thinking on getting the iPod interface. i wonder if there are any changes now for the ipod interface. 2 years ago i heard alot of negative feedbacks. takes quite awhile for the ipod to load everytime you start the car.. limited folders/playlists.. is this still the case?
