[size="2"]i just put a set of 20" rims on my 545i.when i hit a hard dip, my right front tire rubs???? i dont understand why? i have a 245/35/20 in the front. the left does not rub. does anyone know why or what i should check for? also my steering wheel shakes when i go 40+ i rebalanced the new tires but this did not help. the person at the rim shop said that the rear tires appear to be warped?????? he said sometimes the tires sit on the shelf too long and cause a "BUMP" in the tire so that it is not perfectly round. i ordered these rims from a rim place and i spoke with the owner and he said that they didnt install the spacer in the rear center of the rim and this could cause it????? he said if that didnt work that he would send me new rear tires. I neeed help!!!!! anyone experiance this or heard of it??? also what could i do to fix????!!!!! thanks guys

I used to rub on my right front too (with 20s). I had the fender rolled and it would only rub on hard dips on the bottom of the wheel well. Coilovers solved the problem for me. No rubbing at all now.

Coilovers are springs and shocks paired together in one system. Usually with coilovers you can adjust the height as well as the dampening. It's very similar to exchanging your shocks and springs (say with H&R springs and Koni shocks) but usually you can't adjust the settings. Prices can be all over the board depending on brand. For new, expect to pay over $2k USD.

it does seem odd...rubbing usually occurs in the rear...it seems as if you got wheels with wrong offsets...in terms of vibration, your weehels may not be hbcentric which explains the vibration...the shop telling you a tire forms a bump when it sits on the shelf is a bunch of baloney.

It's not too uncommon to have rubbing in the front. Same has happened to member Vegastrashed. Rolling fenders should help. You could also switch to more aggressive shocks and stiffen up the suspension preventing too much travel up and down.

You could also get different brand tires as different brands, even in the same sizes, have different structures to their sidewall. The squarer/broader sidewalls may contribute to more rubbing vs the rounder shoulders.

As for your vibrations, RoBD305 is righ that it could possibly be the hubcentric fit of the wheels. Hubcentric rings should solve that. And for tires being uneven, I've heard the same stories from other tire shops so it's probably true. I just don't think it's from sitting on the shelf though but more of a defect in the uniformity of the tire itself.

The right side of the e60 sits lower than the left. Under compression there is still enough clearance on the left side but not enough on the right, therefore causing the rubbing. Like ECF mention, you might want to get the right side rolled. It's the least expensive solution.

As for coilovers, don't be too alarmed at the price that ro11dice quoted. The $2400 is for KW V2 coilovers. There are less expensive coilovers like Bilstein PSS9 which are about $1500. Same features as the KW V2.

The right front or the whole right side? I never knew that.
