My Ride: 2005 BMW 530D Sport
Default

Hi guys

I have a 2005 BMW 530D Sport and i'm looking to get a set of 20 Inch wheels on it very soon.

My question is whats the biggest size of tyres people have got away with on the E60 Sport model Without any rubbing even if the car is fully loaded?
I wont be getting the car lowered and will be keeping the M Sport Suspension

looking for biggest tyre sizes with no rubbing for:

10J wheels on the back (i'm thinking 275/35/20)
and 8J or 8.5J on the front (i'm thinking 245/40/20)

And what is the recommended tyre size anyway?

The reason I ask is I dont like the look of the rim when it goes over the tyre and I want to have 10J wheels on the back without having this look and no rubbing!

Another question what are peoples views in the difference in ride comfort going from 18 inch wheels to 20 inch wheels?

PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks in advance!

My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed

My 535 sport has got Eibach's in and I just put 20's on, too. Rears are 10x20 ET 20. I run 275/30/20 rear and 245/35/20 front and they sit perfectly fine.

100% correct conversion on the rears would be 285/25/20, but these leave hardly any rubber on the wheels and the 275/30 approach is safe and sound.
275/35 would kick out the wheel diameter by nearly 2 inches which is too much.
With the 275/30 the rim is still fully covered and the rim protector lip sits prominent off the wheel edge.
Pic doesn't really do it justice, but it sits well.

Do you think 285/30 would fit on the rears Olli?

Pass on a firm answer. They might catch, they might not.
The M5 rears in 19" do fit with the original M5 285/35/19 tyre, so theoretically the 285/30/20 would be a logical and viable conversion, but your rim will be half an inch wider and the offset a little more agressive, so it could well be a no no.
Sorry for saying a lot with no real final result.

OK, decision made.

275/30 are safe, and I can do some measurements from them to see if 285/30 will fit next time round.

u can run a 285/30 but the offset has to be no lower than a 28 offset on a 10 inch rim. but you will be safer with a 275/30. it also depends on what brand tires u go with. some brands tend to run a little wider (nitto, toyo) and some more narrower (pirelli, falken) than others. hopefully this helps and goodluck
