My Ride: (2007) E60 - 520d Msport - Carbon Black,Black Dakota Leather, Carbon Fibre Trim, Business Nav, Bluetooth with telematics, Heated Seats, Parking Sensors Fr/Rr
Hi All,
well I have had my car for just over a week now and I am very very impressed with the overall feel/ package.
One area I would like to improve on visually is with the Wheels/ tyres. I currrently have the 18" MSport alloys with the original run flats. I would like to step up to 19"s or even 20"s for visual and practical reasons (Dont like RFlats!).
Please see link here for some wheels that I have seen on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250197689313&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX_Stores&refitem=250197689402&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&refwidgettype=osi_widget
Are there any issues with fitting this type of package? Will there be issues with handling or wear to components?
Any advice welcomed.
Regards, Matt

My Ride: E61 535d sport, Silver Grey/grey/maple.
20" Hartge Nova 7. Previously 19" staggered 172s
As long as the offsets are correct there are no issues.
Those tyre sizes are the same as you would normally get with factory 19's (275/30, 245/35). They are commonly used in the US and I have them on mine too, gives you that little bit more rubber between the rim and the road but also takes the speedo over-read out - with these on my speedo almost exactly matches my GPS.
Anything smaller than 20s just doesn't look right to me any more. The ride is just a smidgen bouncier than on the 19s (also non-RF) and, having put the 19s back on for the winter (polished rims+salt= ), I am certain that the best ride available on an e60 is with non-RF 19s.
I have an e61 and needed 3mm spacers on the rear to guarantee clearance. e60 shouldn't need them.

I do like the look of those 20's..... what kind of price on the tyres are you being quoted ?? PICS PLEASE
Delivery is extra.
I emailed the seller asking a few questions inclusing offset. But he didnt answer the offset question.
Will ask him again for the offset - before commiting. They would have to be summer wheels though - as the salty northen UK roads would eat the polished dishes......
The only other wheels I like are the BBS LM 19"s - Mega money

My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed
The ASA are nice wheels with german TUV approval.
The standard offsets of the AR1 for an E60 are 9x20 ET18 and 10.5x20 ET26
If you use the 245/35 and 275/30/20 tyre combo, you will have no arch catching issues at all. The 275's will be nicely curved on the 10.5 inch rim, though.
Here is a copy of the German TUV approval for the wheels. (in german, but you see the offsets)

just a quick question. I have spoken to someone today who was convinced that changing my alloys will void the BMW Warranty for the whole car.... Is this right? Also it will affect my insurance - as the Run Flats are considered to be an integral safety feature of the car?
Any advice?
Regards, Matt

BMW dealers happily sell you 19" or 20" Schnitzer or Alpina wheels with non rf's without blinking an eye.
Legally they will most certainly have to prove that e.g. a blown turbo was caused by non rf tyres.
Scare mongering, nothing else in this case.
