19" Wheels
Hi,
I want to get some feedback on wheel and tire changes to the "stock" 545 Sport Package. I currently have on the front (245/40/18) and on the rear (275/35/18).
I want to use a 19" wheel/tire from the current 18" but still keeping the 40 series front tire and 35 series rear tire. Roads here in OR aren't that smooth. My question is if I go with a 245/40/19 front and a 275/35/19 rear, my questions are:
* How much off will the Speedometer be
* Will there be any tire rubbing
* Do I need to upgrade the brakes
* How does this affect the DSC and DTC systems
* What changes to the current handling will I notice
Thanks.

Your speedo will be too slow, meaning if it says your going 50 mph your acctually going like 53 mph. About 4% slower. Rubbing could be a problem since your not downsizing the tire itself but I'm no expert in that. I'd seriously stick with the recommended tire sizes when going up or down rim sizes.

Plus it may affect the handling because thecar will ride higher. I have 19s and have hit a couple of potholes here in florida. Still no shaking . If you llok there is still plenty of rubber there.. go with BMWs approved sizes..can not go wrons

The good news is if you go with 19" wheels, and substitute good quality non-runflats, your ride will actually improve over the 18" wheels with runflats.
Thanks for all the response. I was thinking of filling the wheel wells with bigger/taller tires as opposed to having to lower the car. From the responses, it seems like increasing the wheel diameter may not be the right way to go.

Waiting for trunkopener button from Hobi :)
I think so too.. Just keep it the way BMW designed it, I think you'll be much more satisfied.
