166s look great on A/W , have you decided against the 172s ?

Both look great, looking forward to the final result.

Cheers
I think the 172's are not an option....the car is in getting prepped for the transformation...
pics will follow.

IMO, alpinewhite (light colored cars) look better with 166. I used to have them and I know. 167 for dark colored cars. But its your decision.

heres a pic of 166 & 167 (me and mikebuzzsaw).

245/35/19 in the front and 275/30/19 in the rear

go with General Exclaim UHP tires. They are the best for its price ~$600 (tirerack) (majority of members have them), unless you decide to go Michelin PS2.

I had Michelin PS2 after the Mich Pilot sports...IMO PS2's are over-rated...
the original Pilot sports were much better..so maybe I'll try a set of the general's
Are they noisy?

I liked them. Didn't really paid attention to the road noise b/c my music is always loud in the car. Check tirerack for ratings/reviews on the Generals.

A local BMW parts guy told my bodyshop doing the Mtech kit that 166 and 167 don't fit a 550 i.
Is that true? Or what tire sizes and spacer sizes would be needed?
Can anyone help clear this up for me? I thought either BMW OEM rim would go right on with no spacers, which I'd prefer not to use.
Thanks.

The General Exclaims tend to be very quiet. The grip very well in wet conditions. They also wear pretty well depending upon the surface.

TireRack consumers rate the tires very well.

They also look pretty standard (some tires have strange looks).
