oem are not forged, but the replicas look bad and not as concave.
+1, OEM 166 wheels are cast not forged...however OEM 167 and 249 wheels are cast....

nummicars, good link to show the difference, I was going to post that one as well, OP: glad you can see the diiference, the concavity definitely makes a world of difference...

I was checking out craigslist and saw this local post so I was considering it.

But after these overwhelming comments I didn't even go see the wheels. Even if the wheels look fine, there's the risk of vibration. Unless it's an unbelievable deal then it's not worth it

That was my car in the links provided above. I got a great deal on the replicas but now there is NO WAY I would put them on even if they were FREE. Honestly, your stock wheels would be better. The only use I got out of them was trying out 19in wheels and tyres for ride comfort and noise vs my OEM 17in setup, for a reasonable price, before shelling out on brand new M166s ex Germany.

Went to the track this weekend and eveyone was looking at the car - looks great especially from the quarter / three quarter view where you can see the depth of the concavity in the wheels and the effect of the M6 offset on the stance. More pics can be seen in my DIY MTech kit thread on here if you need more convincing....

Does anybody know if original M5 wheels (came off an M5, 245s front and 285s rear) fit a '06 530i? I'm wondering if the offset, etc for the two cars is the same.... i think so, but wanted to confirm......!

The wheels will work, but not with the M5 tyres. Correct tyre sizes would be F: 245/35 R19 & R:275/30 R19

Why would the M5 tires not fit?
the ones i'm looking at are Front 255/40ZR19 and Rear 285/35ZR19

wouldn't they just stick out a little bit?

No, they would rub your fenders. M5 has 10mm wider front fenders and rear fenders are rolled.

Overall diameters:

Front tyres:
- M5 255/40 R19 = 27.03 in / 686.56 mm
- non-M5 245/35 R19 = 25.75 in / 654.05 mm

Rear tyres:
- M5 285/35 R19 =26.85 in / 681.99 mm
- non-M5 275/30 R19 = 25.49 in / 647.44 mm

I see, so you not only can't go wider but must compensate the bigger wheels with lower profile tires.

Damn, I was hoping to get away with the higher profile for smoother ride...
