Whassup?

Background.....Just got an 08 550i Space Gray with Black Dakota Leather-Steptronic w-Sport Pckg and loaded.
(Pic is before Tint and Powder Coating Rims)

I've already tinted her(Carbon Fiber Medium Black) and tomorrow I'm having my 19' M Rims powder coated "GUN METAL".

I'm looking for some input on how to best spend another $1.5k on making her "better".

"Better" can come from:

___Exterior Aesthetics(the new 550i has the M Shadow Line Trim already)
___Engine/Torque Improvement(software remapping-ECU Reflash etc)
___Interior Additional Cargo Space or Stand to Hold my Q(soon to be i-Phone)
___Anything Else You can Come Up With

I'd appreciate your thoughts and input.

SoCal
one thing seriously to consider...it is very personal feeling for some people to change/ upgrade the interior roof trim/ headliner and all associated parts to Alcantara finish [like what come in M5], I can see you have the standard light color - grey headliner....changing it to Alcantara [BMW Individual line] makes the whole interior really "rich and supple" to look, touch and feel and also additionally has a very great sound absorption quality too. it looks and feel way superior to standard BMW anthracite headliner in my humble opinion. other than that, as someone has said, M5 mirrors would be great..also Try a quad exhaust...or whatever really makes you happy..

it is your car- your personality - do what makes you happy...at the end of the day that is all what really matters..

Wow, Znod is back..haha

SoCal, if you're set on only $1500, I'd suggest the remus muffler and some lowering springs. You can do both and still have a couple hundred to spare. Your car will then look sportier with the sound to match.
Hi ECF. Good to hear you.

Nevermind, I forgot the Dinan diff is only for cars with 6peed or SMG.
Why is the Dinan diff limitied to 6speed or SMG cars?

Dinan diff is limited to 6speed/SMG because the replacement diff is coming from a Step. The final drive ratio for the 6speed/SMG is 2.93 whereas for the Step it's higher, 3.45. It's one of the reasons why the Step is a faster transmission when launching from a dig.

the specs I have seen for both the 2007 and 2008 550i list the final drive ratio as 3.38 for the step. I can understand that 3.38 is close enough to 3.45 where you don't get the bang for the buck that you would get for moving from 2.93 to 3.45. From what I have read on other threads, it sounds like most of the 5 series diffs are interchangable. In the case of a step moving to ratios in the 3.75 range would work if something like that were available.
