I just saw a set of chrome style 122 wheels on ebay. two questions.
1. Can I just bolt them on a 530xi?
2. Are they original - does bmw sell them chromed or did some chrome them?

I just saw a set of chrome style 122 wheels on ebay. two questions.
Assuming these are the wheels you saw...

1. Can I just bolt them on a 530xi?
Yes. In fact, Style 122 is even an official BMWNA factory option for the 530xi.

2. Are they original - does bmw sell them chromed or did some chrome them?
To my knowledge, BMW does not chrome the Style 122 wheels.

Could I get these rims and just put on the 225's that came on the 138 rims?

the offset should be 43, style 122 is a 530xi option but must be ordered with 43 offset rather than normal 20 offset used for other 5 series.

what is offset? I keep reading about it, but never seen it mentioned on tire rack when licking out rims.

Ok, I always knew the 525xi/530xi hub stance was wider, but never saw any figures or confirmation of this.

Do you have a source for the data? Which wheels are available in the different offsets?

Now that I am well informed I went to the Tire rack and looked for wheels. Leeb3 is right. If you select and 05 525i and look at teh wheels specs and the 17 inch rims the offsets were 15-18mm. When I used a 2006 525xi I got a different set of rims with an offset of 40mm.

I should donate the amount of money this forum just saved me.
