07 e60 525xi Rear Suspension (Coil Springs)
Hey Guys,
Looking to replace the whole strut/shock assembly for the 07 525xi. I couldn't find an assembly for sale that includes the coil springs. I have been having a tough time finding the coil springs online. I was wondering if anyone can help me identify an after market product that will cover the whole assembly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Replacing the rear shock requires a shock, upper strut mount and re-use of the spring seat and upper washers form the original. R&R the spring. Easy. If say Monroe or the like made a 'drop-in' replacment complete with the spring I'd not want to use that. BTW, Bentley says you need a new lower bolt and the three top nuts.

The problem is that one of my springs is completely broken. Thus; looking for an assembly where I can drop the whole thing in. Best thing I can find is the product below where I can find the whole assembly. I can buy a used part that gives me the whole assembly https://www.ebay.com/itm/143395314805?ul_noapp=true. Or the other option is to buy the shock absorber https://www.rmeuropean.com/Products/...a-dad87e65dc57 and than pay the stelership for the rear springs that would cost me $250 a piece. What are your thoughts?

I'd be tempted to go used, but buy both from a local wrecker and replace both. BMW had a fair number of spring options over the model range, and the smart way is to take two off one car. And I say local so you can see what they come off. Find a similar E60 that has a big front crash with no damage on the rear. Make sure the shox aren't leaking. Golden.

Checked real oem to no avail. It tells me the part is discontinued. Checked with BMW and they tell me they will not give me the part number over the phone. Will have to go with audiophool's recommendation in regards to pulling off the springs from a junkyard on this one. Will have to compress the springs and mount on the new shock absorbers.

BTW, whichever way you go, what kind of external condition were your springs in? Any rust spots? Nicked areas? Spring killers are corrosion spots from rock chips etc damaging the exernal coating. I R&R'd my springs this year and it's easy to nick the coating with a spring compressor. I patched any nicked spots with liquid electrical tape (neoprene).

Google is your friend....for these prices I would pass on the used parts choice.
see this link for OEM springs or any other option if you so desire
