That's the only way to get more power without going through headache of modding.
I agree with this also. The only way to get a real, discernable power increase from these M54 engines would be a turbo or a supercharger. If you are not in love with your car for sentimental reasons, I would say just trade up to a 550 or an M5.

Figure that the cost of a turbo or a supercharger would be $10,000 give or take a few grand, just roll that over 3 years and lease one of the aforementioned beasts.

Good luck with your decision.

Besides the RPI route (intake and exhaust) is there anything else? Anyone have suggestions besides the floor mats and putting the "M" on the trunk....hahhaa
Install light weight 18" wheel and Sprint Booster. You'll "feel" performance improvement
Otherwise, it might cost you an arm and a leg to upgrade to V8.

How much $$ are you willing to invest?

Replacing your spark plugs and upgrading your air filter are too cheap and effective "upgrades."
spark plugs are usually good until 100K miles, if the car has about 50K will it actually make a difference putting new ones on?

if so, is there a particular brand that does the job better?

Thanks for all the help guys, I think im going to stick with the stock engine set up. If i get too bored Ill have to trade up to the V8. ( the beast not really in the cards for this soldier)
