I have a 07 550i 6MT. My shift knob is peeling where the chrome is. I have ordered the ZHP BMW knob, but how do you get the old knob off? Thanks!

How I did it was put the car in second with the motor off and pull the shifter towards your chest with both hands. Its hard to get off and if you dont pull towards your chest you may whack yourself in the face. Then the new one just put on and push down.

^^^^This is the easiest way to do it! 2nd gear and pull hard! But be careful, because it kinda pops off. Honestly when I did it, I drilled my self in my mouth pretty hard .... The GF found it very amusing.

Ok, that seems fairly simple compared to what I was thinking it would take. I have not received the new knob as of today, but it is on the way. I assume there is some type of fastener or adhesive?

Thanks for the help, and I appreciate the heads up on watching out for the release trajectory!!

Just got the car in Aug, this is my first "MOD". I had many issues with the car after purchase and everything seemed so complicated and expensive. It has taken me a few months to feel comfortable doing anything to it after the initial refurbishing and expense from purchasing someones elses used car that they seemed to care little for towards the end of ownership.

Ok, after getting it in and taking 10 seconds to remove and install, I feel stupid I asked, but the info made it easy as pie! Thanks!
