Are you seeing a lot of chipping on hood?
Just short of 13,000 miles and I have lots of stone chips. They are just part and parcel of daily driving in the UK.
My windscreen got a large chip on day 1 of ownership thanks to a motorcycle travelling at hyperspeed throwing up a large stone. That was followed by a truck dropping a strap onto the road which had a metal buckle on it. Made a nice big chip on my front bumper and scratched my side skirt. Fortunately Sapphire Black is a good colour to touch in as you cannot see the repair unless you know exactly where to look.
As far as routine stone chips go it's no worse or better than any other car I've owned.

6000 miles with chips on front air dam mainly, some on hood in the
area just above the grills. The price for being able to maintain warp
speed!

Saphire Black with 2800mi and more chips than I would have liked. I had a clear bra installed (actually a full kit by Clear Armour that included the air dam, rear view mirrors, etc) but about a month after the car returned from ED. This stopped the problems and actually hid the smaller nicks. I'm very glad I did it.
