They still can by just using the handle, so what's the difference?

(I personally think this will require Comfort access and the key needs to be somewhere near the trunk. Notice the sales guy holding it in his hand straight in front of him.)

i dont get it!!!

my daughter has a 2005 Nissan Van with a remote opening tailgate as well as side doors.
where is the new technology. Additionally if you have to put your foot underneath to activate this, it will mess up your shoes/foot. Here in NJ we have rain/snow/salt/dirt under there often.
looks like BMWnvented the wheel.

Or you could train your cat/dog to recognize that you're carrying something heavy and it can go trigger the opening for you. A little chute that dispenses a treat from under the car would help with the training. A little pouch in it's collar and it can also carry the key for comfort access. Eventually you could train the dog so that when you shout "walkies in the park" it knows to go trigger the trunk opening, then it jumps up and triggers the closing while remaining inside and can then start the engine for you and choose your favourite music and strap itself in with the dog seatbelts.

In all the time I've had my E60 and have carried numerous heavy things to it, I wasn't once thinking that pressing the button on the remote to open the trunk lid was difficult. I just make sure it's in my hand as I'm picking up the heavy item knowing that I'll need to press it when I get there.

I wonder if this technique would work on a date?

Seems obvious that this would require Comfort Access so not anyone (or any animals) can just walk by and open your trunk. You guys that are laughing at it should laugh at yourself for missing the obvious.

As for "kicking", it's probably just a gentle tap or maybe just getting your foot near a sensor like those automatic paper towel dispensers. Not that difficult to do. Are you guys gonna start complaining now that when you touch the door handles with CA to unlock the door that you might stub your thumb?

Watch that video again, and tell me it doesn't just look like that guy is holding the trunk release button on the remote. Especially in the second opening.

Tisk tisk.
