So you kick the empty space below the rear bumper humm. Wonder if this is standard or an option? And whether or not it would require comfort access.

+1 If not your shin your chin on the way up...

If I'm carrying a heavy box to load in my trunk the last thing I want to be doing is jumping back to avoid getting smacked up by the lift gate...

Or you can turn around and "kick it with your heel, then walk away slowly.

If you're still worried about that, lower the heavy box to the floor. Pause. Enjoy the back pain.
Open the trunk and bend back down to pick up the heavy load. Pause. Get ready for the back pain.
Lift the heavy load and enjoy the back pain again.

Great success.

PS. The automatic doors and windows have an anti-smack feature just in case ya know?

I like the feature and find it useful but I'm not willing to pay $500+ for it. Hopefully it will be standard just as the guy said.

not only do you have to worry about hitting your shin and your chin, it's pretty hard (and dangerous) to balance on one foot and try to kick with your other foot while you are carrying something heavy with both hands.

i understand the concept, but i think it needs to be thought through and executed a little better.
