nothing, why?
It's pretty clear from the photos it did not deploy - is there a reason it should have?

While I'm very versed in SMART airbag technologies and the different deployment scenarios that are made based on factors such as passenger weight, angle of impact, velocity, belt useage, driver position relative to the wheel, and the like, when a major frontal collision is imminent and detected, the bag would deploy to reduce the severity of occupant to steering wheel impacts and aid in controlled deceleration of the body. I would like to think that in any frontal impact severe enough to mount the airbox over the driver side wheel the airbag would deploy and offer maximum protection from belt failure, delayed tensioning, or any other unexpected system event where said airbag deployment could offer additional split-second protection. Or am I somehow wrong for contemplating this, especially considering the passenger seat sensor recall, 1st (or possibly 2nd) model year of the car, and the like for early year E60's? I am always open to suggestions...

From appearances, I'd have to agree that the front airbag should have deployed. I've seen and been involved in a far less severe, slightly "off-center" front-end impact in an '04 Maxima and both the left side and front airbags deployed.
This 545's front end is totally gone, so I can't see how it didn't deploy.

Last time I remember - residential speed limits in the states were 35mph max unless posted. That car had to be going pretty fast to jump a curb and almost roll into someone's house. Sounds like negligence to me and you can bet someone is gonna get sued.

From those pictures, I'm guessing a T-bone impact into the front left corner (should be L-bone, I guess
, rather than a head-on. No reason to deploy front bags if your head is about to go through the side window, I suspect.

Take a good look at the front end of that wreck and you will find your reason.

If the crash G-forces direction are sidewise there's no reason to deploy explosives in the face too.
Each axis has its central unit to establish which airbags the car has to open .
In the front doors, for example, for all side airbags .

Bottom line is nobody inside got hurt, but I'd certainly wonder why the front airbag didn't deploy.
