My Ride: MY2004 530d. Poverty spec

I know there are lots of threads like this, but having done a search, can't really get much info. So sorry if this all looks familiar.

Anyway, I've got to replace all 4 tyres on my 2004 E60 530d (UK). Currently running on Goodyear 245/40/18 runflats. I've pretty much decided to go with non-runflats, as my car has a spare and personally I don't think the extra cost is particularly justified. So, decision time. Prices for full fitted set from etyres.co.uk - a couple of these are slightly cheaper at blackcircles, but etyres come to you and fit them, which is handy for me:
Avon ZZ3 ?476
Dunlop SP9000 ?510
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 ?568
Toyo Proxes T1-R ?632
Continental Sport Contact 2 ?648
Continental Sport Contact 3 ?680
Pirelli P Zero Rosso/Assimetrico (same price) ?686
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 ?706

And just for comparison
Goodyear NCT5 EMT runflat ?724 (what I've got now)

Anybody got anything good or bad to say about any of these? I'm inclined towards the Goodyear Eagle F1s as they seem pretty good value, but could stretch to the Toyos or Contis if they are worth it. I drive mostly A/B roads, 25 mile each way commute on fairly twisty country roads - don't really hoon around, but want something with decent grip, and good performance in the wet. Decent life and low noise would be a bonus.

Any help much appreciated.

Andrew

Agreed 100%. I had Bridgestone Pole Position whatevers on my M3 and LOVED them. I thought they put the Pilot Sports to shame and could not believe how much cheaper they were. Incredible tire at an incredible price.

Good point. Neither etyres nor blackcircles list the PP SO2/SO3. Only the RE050. Bridgestone website says they are made in that size, so not sure why the lack of listing. I'll have a trawl round the other sites, otherwise I'll ring round some tyre places (urggh - having to actually speak to somebody. That's just wrong in this day and age )

Hello there

Those prices seem high for 18" I was quoted ?160 for goodyear eagle assymetric their new tyre which has been highly rated and that was for 245/35/19.

I have recently taken the 19's off and put the 18's back on due to balancing and the ride is a lot harder even though higher profile so if you have the spare I agree it may be best to change.

Where was that price? Fully fitted inc VAT?

I've used etyres a couple of times before and never found a bricks-n-mortar tyre shop that will get anywhere near.

Found the GSD asymmetrics listed on tyre-shopper.co.uk at ?156 each, which isn't bad. Actually they list a set of standard GSD3 for ?520, which is good too.

A lot of people really rate the Falken 452s.
