I should probably mention if you didn't see the other Xi mod thread that you can always go for a thicker profile tire. I have the same VMR's as Rice (except they're black) and with a thicker profile and it filled in the wheel wells quite nicely. An added bonus is not having to worry about bottoming out on speed bumps or rubbing against the fenders on turns (RIP my IS300 and A4's fenders).

Check out this pic/my sig.

I did think about the taller tire.. but I think the calculation was 4% slower. I think it's all within threshold but I was debating it. Thinking of it now.. if it's 12.5 mm higher (I ran it through the calculator again) it would look really tight.. hmm maybe in a couple of years when I run these tires through..

I just looked up springs, and it seems like H&R is the only company that has springs for the Xi models (confirmed on their site), apparently the lowering average is 1.4 front and 1.3 in the rear (only show as sport springs). Some other websites say 1.5 - 1.8 lowering.

Eibach dosent have anything, I didnt find anything for E60s Xi models.

Couldn't get a good picture today, but the rear tires have settled more indeed.. It's about half what you see in the pictures I had when it was first installed. It looks pretty even with the front tire in the picture. (The fronts have not settled any further). So it's tucked nice and close, maybe two fingers from the fender... perfect!

Yeah, I wasn't too worried about the speedometer being off as much as I was with the car riding high. But it's not noticeable and thanks to the bumper it appears normal height as well. In a city with THE worst road repair budget, 40 profile was also a must haha. But I did read an article about a guy spray painting huge cocks on potholes which forced a city to patch them up ASAP.. He may be onto something..

Im wondering how well handling would be with the springs. I realize you get what you pay for. But like I said before, personally I dont see KW V3s being a use to me, maybe if they were affordable lol. But its like I dont track my car, I daily mine and its not like I need adjustable height if i have one setting id would stay with that. Id be better off getting bags for that, its on demand, rather than taking your time adjusting the coils lol.

People are saying to me that: You seriously going to sacrifice ride quality and possibly handling since springs alone dont do much? You would be better off saving up for coilovers and having everything that is comfortable and improves handling.

I always respond... my car isnt a race car.... lol. If i were to classify, It be more of a show car then anything. I go meets with my car and just show my car. Thats it pretty much lol.

In my opinion handling had increased a good bit. Understeer is less. .rotation more. . Ie I can come into the same tight turn and get my back end to slide with more acceleration and or steering rather than plowing through the body roll. Ride quality over bumps and dips is the rough part.

I just ordered the springs. I got 275/35 in the rear on a 19 inch wheel and 235/40R19 in the front. Im a bit worried that I might rub. From your pictures you had 245/35 right all the way around? That seems like you had more clearance. I might be pushing it to be completely honest. lol. Fingers crossed.

Yup no sweat on the fronts. ..have beat it up a few times with no rubbing at all. . And the rears have spacers too..with lots of room. I'm not sure if 275 will get close enough to the fenders though, but it seems like a common width for staggered.
