Xenons are nice to have but IMHO they are not a "must have".

If they come standard with the car, all well and good. But if it's an option then I'd say forget it.

DO NOT buy an E60 without Bi-xenon. When its really dark you'll need em. And also, they are a part of the E60's looks. it looks more bold and somewhat angry with the xenons. I love when an E60 emerge behind me and I can see those angry lloking eyebrows and lights.

They are great and the adaptive function really helps on a dark curving road with the high beams on.

As an "elderly" member of the forum (60+), I'd add that it makes it much easier for older eyes to see at night. We have an E60 (halogen) and an E39 (xenon) -- big difference!! I wouldn't retrofit due to all the hassles recorded in other threads, but the next 5 series will have them for sure.

Put it this way.

I drive in the city most of the time so Xenon is a waste of time in citys where there is street light on all the time. If people get it in HK it just for looks, it just too bright to use

BUT if I was back in UK yes 100% worth it most of the road is very dark with no street light on the road so you will need them.

Xenon is worth it if you are living ouside the city.

I got PIAA 6500k lights and they are just as good and even better because it not so bright for HK.

I don't think I would buy a modern sport sedan with out them. It was something I really missed on the M Roadster when I had it. All my cars since have them, even the wifes minivan!

gotta have them...the look and functionality of them surpasses any PIAA. The adaptive is really cool too...helping you peek around corners for safety.
