I was wondering if anyone can give me some insight. I've searched several forums and haven't been able to come to a definitive answer.

I have a 525i non-xenon.

1) Would I be able to purchase the factory projector headlights including the HID ballasts and just do a plug and play swap??

2) Can projectors be retrofitted?

3) If not, if i just change to a "whiter" halogen bulb alternative, will it make the Angel eyes, whiter as well. Or are the angel eyes activated by another set of bulbs?

Thanks in advance for any help whatsoever. ANd anyone know any other good forums for e60 discussion. This is my first bmw. I swapped from the previous gen. E class and so far, so good.

1, in theory , yes but there is the self levelling and washers to consider as well, in the uk, the washers come standard with xenons.......I think the whole affair would be prohibitive in cost but not impossible to do.

Bi-xenon is an official retrofit option in europe at least (as is adaptive Bi-xenon).
Price is close to 2000? for the parts plus labor depending on country and if you are obligated to have washer etc.

best

Jeremyx: This is definitely the best place in all of cyberspace to discuss the E60, specifically. One other E60-specific forum is inundated with trolls, a waste of your time and potentially hazardous to your sanity. However, I do like the dealer forum on Bimmerfest and also got to meet some of the regular posters there at the last NJ BMW CCA meeting. Nice group of people and very knowlegeable re: mods to your car. HTH.

jeremyxnyc,

I am pretty sure you will not find a better board at the moment where the e60 is beeing discussed by it's drivers.

This is the place to be!

Welcome aboard!

Iceman,

You have my vote!

It really helps reading this forum.

It saved me some visits to the dealer and when going there being able to talk with them having some knowledge about the car.

Let us keep doing this fine work.

My congratulations to all members and guests that help this forum being the best one about BMW E60!

Since we're on the subject, I'd like to thank everyone again for all the great contributions to this board. Also, I want to thank das for building it and Lomag for getting it ready for the future!

This board certainly gained some momentum in late May when there was that mass exodus from RF but the good news, thanks to all of you, is that the momentum is still gaining! (The best thing RF ever did for me was to make me read-only -- I can't thank them enough for that favor!!)

This board is so useful that all BMW Customer Relations Reps, Service Reps, Sales Reps, etc. should be required to browse it from time-to-time.

Thanks again to everyone and keep it up! (It sure beats the hell out of that no-man's-land called roadfly, doesn't it?)

Well.... I did find this browsing over at Bekkers.... I dunno about the ballast, but here are the lights themselves, so at least you can get an idea on cost, and boy, its not cheap!

Bekkers E60 Light page

Hope this helps!

And yes! DrD's avatar almost makes this forum NSFW!
