The quattro worked really nice all the time, except when you got stuck in the snow. Then you would have like to have lockable differentials, to really be able to utilize the 4WD to pull out of the deep snow.
I don?t find any big difference to my x-drive 330xd, when it comes to traction, stability etc. compared to the quattro.
Actually my 330xd pulls away ( on snow ) better than my friends RS4! Both on unstudded winter tyres.
What do you mean by " and soon finding it?s way in the 3-series "? Are there a 3rd gen x-drive coming?

It is good to hear the x-drive more than holds up against RS4 quattro from someone who has spend time using and comparing both systems.
BTW - Must be good owning 330xd and an M5 without speed limiter!

The first models with the improved x'-drive will be the e91-93 then followed by e90, and lastly e60

My Ride: My ex-ride: EU '08 LCI 520dA. Space Grey, Sport Seats in Black Leather/Fabric Anthracite, Sport Steering Wheel, A/C with Extended Features, Hi-Fi Speakers, Cup Holders, Cruise with Braking function, Folding Rear Seats, Xenons, Park Distance Control.
- 20 C is nothing - or actually is very very cold - but -30 C is not unusual! :thumbsdown:
But must say the 325xiA was a fun car,
the trans was a bit slow but it didn't have the new (LCI E60) auto trans.
