What? Active Steering aligns just like any other steering. If your steering wheel is way off center, then you need an Active Steering reset or repair, not an alignment.

Not true, an average alignment shop does not have the means to align cars with active streering. It requires special equipment...........

Active steering has steering angle calibration that needs to be zero-ed with the GT1 computer before and alignment can be done. Most tire/alignment shops will NOT have the GT1 to do so. Give my guy Tim a call. He'll take care of you. He runs the BMW PHD shop in Pasadena (Google it). He's super knowledgeable and a great guy to boot.

This is all BS. If you center the steering wheel and align the front wheels, then the steering angle sensor is not affected. Sure, you can recalibrate the steering angle sensor if needed, but you can still align the front wheels just like any other car. Any car with DSC has a steering angle sensor, so they are not unique to cars with Active Steering.

When the car/ignition is off, the steering shaft is locked together (i.e. the Active Steering planetary gearset is locked making a rigid connection between gearbox and steering shaft) just like any other car without Active Steering, so normal alignments are easily achieved.
