pre lci xenon headlights yes, although they are NO WHERE near 40w. The car only allows 10w, a little higher and it'll cut the power supply

 

each led bulb are 5w*4=20w so you get 20w on each side,there are others with 45w on each side.

Oh ok thanks for that. So will these give a greater output then the single LEDs im assuming? (noticebly when they're actually installed)

I currently have a single bulb LED and it's crap, it doesn't illuminate the halo 'solidly'/'fully'. looks weak

 

you can't say, it all depends on the actually LED they've used. I'm not happy with my Mtec V3s going to see if I can mod them and make them super bright

 

I have the MTEC V3 26W. They seem fine. The optical design of the E60 corona ring is not the same as the newer BMW LED-specific corona rings.

you have lci xenons though, OP has pre lci xenons...

 

Don't bother with any LED "bulb" mods with a pre-LCI E60. The design the car uses for light travelling to the angel eyes is what causes them to be weak. If you take apart your headlight, you'll see exactly what I mean. I have tried a 20watt (per side) LED bulb, almost no difference in brightness, the only change is the color. Not only that but you have to deal with error codes, even with products that "guarantee" no error codes.

Your best bet is to save up some money and buy yourself a pair of angel eyes by Umnitza. You can spend anywhere from $150 to $400 depending on what you're going for. The most popular by far are the Orion V2s and V4s. It involves cutting into your headlight though, as you're replacing the actual angel eye rings with LED rings. If you're familiar with the F10s driving around town with the super bright angel eyes during daylight; that is what you can expect from Umnitza.

 

So, what about when they use more then 1 LED? e.g:

They use more than 1 led, but the leds are smaller, so you don't gain much. They're designed that way to get people to think "more leds must mean brighter, so I'll buy these!" and then to top it off they put 60w in the title lol.

The best way of checking how powerful something is, is to look at the surface area of the heatsink. The heatsink for the link you provided barely has much surface area, and the lens on that is pointless, it's not focusing the light where it needs to go.
