One way to think about it, is to imagine it's the other way around. If you currently owned the 08 528 and someone offered you 9 grand to downgrade, would you?

The LCI'ness of it isn't something that's worth anything tangible. The power difference is hardly going to be noticeable apparently. You can buy a better Nav for a few hundred bucks (and also use it on any other cars or rentals).

I'd say spend a grand on your current car (portable Nav and maybe some body kit parts) and keep that other 8 grand in the bank and it's going to easily make up for that shortfall in warranty.

There's also a lot to be said for "knowing" your current car. I'd really have to think carefully when considering trading to another used E60. I know mine, I know it's a good/solid car with no important problems.

^This is pretty sound advice. I think I would take the 9 grand and mod the hell out of the car. There's a good amount that you can do with 9 grand and really make your car sexier than a stock 2008 528.

i don't know why you would consider it. speed is a moot point. you're not going to notice a thing. i can't believe there is even a thread about this.

If you drive teh car till you dump it, then yes, the upgrade costs you 9k. If you plan to sell the car in 3-4 years, the 9k in reality is something like 3-4k since a 08 528 is always going to be worth more than 07 525i when you sell it, alone because of the LCI, bigger engine, and Navigation factor.

the LCI is a "better" car than the pre-lci and it is definitely worth the 3-4k it will effectively cost you.

I was actually thinking of changing my '07 530i for an '06 550i, but im afraid of those V8 engines. I think no other engine is more reliable than the non turbo I6.
