I bought it separately and had the dealer install it upon delivery. Just ask your parts department, and they can order one for you. Make sure you get the right wood, and the right number of cutouts for your car.

For MY 2004 in USA plastic only, you can do a search for previous thread for the part number. I have been told it is an easy DIY. Maybe the 2005 will come standard with the wood.

When I had my rear console panel installed the parts manager mentioned that a wood trim upper panel (i.e. surrounding for the upper vents above the panel) is also available.
Can anyone verify this?

My Ride: 2008 535i: June 6th start build, complete June 17th, at NY Port July 5th, at dealer July 10th, took delivery Friday July 13- Plantimum Bronze/Natural Brown Leather/Light Poplar, Sport Package, Sport Auto, Active Steering, Premium Package, CWP & PDC. Dinan Performance Software 384hp & 421 ft/lbs.
Its shown in the BMW brochure because it states that the photos might show european trim. I orered mine from dealer and installed myself. Much easier to install new one than to remove DC sockets from old one.
