I live in the cold in Ontario Canada. I think BMW gurantees no rust for certain amount of yrs. Since mine is bout 4 yrs old, I was wondering if I should rust proof it? Please let me know your opinions and experiences, thanks.

Would you use Rust-check? I've used them in the past and have been happy. But in this case I think I would insist that they don't drill any holes. I'm sure BMW would go nuts at me if they did. Thoughts??
Thanks

I wouldn't do it , it just adds a bunch of weight and these cars rarely rust..........the rust warranty is 10 years I believe ...............better idea , move to Vancouver
My vote for aftermarket applied rust proofing =
BMWs are produced for climates and driving conditions that are harsher than what you'll probably experience. Keep your car clean and wash corrosive salts and road treatments off with clean water when practical or use a commercial car wash
from time to time as long as they use well-filtered water - so you don't bathe your car in a salty brine.

I'm also in the GTA and just bought an 05. I was thinking the same thing but after some thought I will pass on the oil spray. I'm storing my car this winter but may drive it next winter. I have a big problem with holes being drilled as well. I'll just trust the BMW rust warranty.

For what it's worth, the TR7 (see below) was dunked in rust proof a number of years ago and is still rust free at 29 years old. But that's entirely different engineering.
Thanks a bunch.

+1 I dont know about canada but in us they have rust warranty ...
also it doesnt rust that much since we have some undercarriage covers...
just wash cars whenever snows or go over salt...
no need to spend money on that rust thing...
just go make it go faster!!!
