I was told by a dealer that that style of wheel would not fit, due to the larger brake disks on the V8s. Those wheels are easy to get, so they are cheap, but it could be a waste of $$ if they don't fit.

Personally, I sought out the Style 116s for my winter wheel setup. They are a little harder to find (they were stock on the non-sport 545s), but they aren't overly expensive.

Good Luck on the search. My only advice would be to stick with 17" wheels and keep the tires at 225 width. The narrower width helps them 'cut' through the snow better than your summer wheels.

yes why wouldn't it? I have 19's and it works? What year is your 550 cuz mine is an 06 and it came with oem 18 124's so why would you wanna go smaller?

....For a winter setup only. I'm not recommending 17's for a summer setup. With smaller wheels you can get narrower tires that cut through the snow better (in this case 225mm vs 245/275mm on the Style 124's). Wide wheels/tires perform worse than narrower ones in snow. It's simple physics, the weight of the car is displaced over a smaller area with narrow wheels, so you get better traction. Wide wheels spread out the load and reduce traction on snow. (The reverse is true on sand, hence why off-roaders let their air out of the tires on the beach.)

The 116's are fairly narrow (8.5" wide I think?). I doubt you can find 19"s that narrow.

as long as its the correct offset, they should fit fine. it will be a tight fit. 17's were available on non sport packaged 550i's. You're gonna want a +20mm offset. anything higher will not clear the brake calipers.

Thanks for the reply guys, I'm fairly new to all this offset etc... Where would I get this information? I already have the rim... The dealer just gave them to me so now I need tyres to mount on them.... From what you guys are saying it doesn't seem they will fit, or it will be very tight

If you already have the rims, why not just try to put one on and see it it clears the caliper?

well the 535i and the 550i share the same brakes on the rwd model. all the part numbers match as far as rotor and pads go. The wheel you mentioned were oem on the base model 535i
