My Ride: 2006 530xi, Silver, Black Int, Cold Weather Package, Front, side and rear M kit
I put mine on last week. I bought a set of Michelin Pilot Alpine PA3's to put back on my stock 17's. It's been cold as hell here in Cincy but no weather to really test them out in yet. I do admit - I miss my 19's.

Jonathan,
With your travel schedule when do you actually get to drive your own car - except back and forth to the airport?
Here's wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season and a GREAT 2010!

Just changed my tires to All Seasons (Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus). Not too much snow in my area, but it does get pretty cold, with ice once in a while.
Hopefully they will treat me well this winter, and the rest of the year too.

My Ride: 2011 M3 Convertible, Alpine White/black, 6 speed
2011 535xi Tasmin Green, Venetian Beige
Had my mechanic put them on last week. BMW Style 135 with Dunlop Winter M3 tires. I go from 19" to 18" for the winter. He found a bubble on two of the tires. Thank goodness for wheel/tire insurance

I just had my Blizzak winter tires fitted after a few days of seeing the BMW snowflake. Thanks to STS on Hillside Ave. (thanks Vish!), I was in and out in 30 min. Record time actually.
I go from 19" to 17" for winter tires and, while the car does handle a bit differently (perhaps an understatement), I have absolute confidence in its ability in snow and cold weather.
FYI, here is an article on Winter Driving Tips for those interested.

I always wait until the very last minute and change them once it actually snows. I think I'm only a few days away from taking the plunge...
Ditto.

It's not only for the snow you switch to winters, it's the temperature too. The winter tyres are designed to operate in a winter temp range, and summers in a summer temp range. Although, saying that, I'm still a bit annoyed that I can't set off even in 2nd on full power without spinning the wheels. It's fun though, so I still keep doing it.

As soon as the temp was getting into the low 40's and upper 30's I switched mine(end of october) The cold weather just eats up the Micheline Sports and my Micheline Alpine PA3's on 18's are still very good. I am so glad I did not go to the 17's.
