Hello all,

My first time posting and I need your help please. I am looking to purchase snow/winter tires and wheels. I found a seller for the tires and wheels but it came off a 745. Will my 545 sport pkg fits these wheels and tires. The seller assure they will fit. I have a friend with a 745 and the lug nut is even larger than my e60, not longer but fatter. The seller also stated that even if my lug nut is smaller I can still use it as the crown of the bolt is what's important. Please help me. Thanks.

Just buy all season tires on stock rims, you are in MD, not a problem.

I would talk to a tire person who has a clue and not a person trying to sell you something which i would assume may not be a tire/rim person. Call tire rack and see what they say. I disagree with Sy1616, All seasons are all crap and you will be better off going summer/winter.

Ok. Thanks for info! I just now learned that all e60's are not the same wheel offset. I had three guys trying to sell me winter wheels/tires and none of them would fit my 545i sport pkg.

+1 and -1

The +1 : Getting tire and wheel info from a "wanna-be" is definitively a No-No! Take thee to a certified BMW INDY or a trusted dealer SA

The -1 : All-Seasons year round vs Dedicated Summer / Winter - While dedicated "specialty" tires can perform their required functions best this depends on the needs of the driver and the car. For example, if the driver must absolutely travel in the winter months regardless, then dedicated winter snows are probably the solution. That said, in many climates - like Maryland, a proper all season tire on a car carefully driven can be safely used year-round. That does recognize that they are a "compromise" tire. If the driver intends to operate his//her BMW sedan like it's a Formula 1 drive to the supermarket - well that's another story!

And yes, some all-seasons are "all-crap" as are some Summer / Winter Specialty tires. The opinions expressed here are those of the writer - sometimes referred to as the village idiot

Happy Holidays
