Will be purchasing 2 winter tires and mounting on stock wheels on my '08 535XI. As I recall one of these two tire brands had gotten very good user reviews based on performance and snow. Here, I believe are the choices...Am not bound to these and have read a good many threads with respect to Blizzak tires, Michelin, etc. Am listening...Thanks

You're only purchasing two tires? That generally falls under the bad idea category for mixing winter and non-winter tires.

Also, I'm pretty sure your first four tires are performance winter tires and the Blizzak is a studless winter. The Blizzaks would be the best of your group in moderate to deep snow, but the worst on dry roads.

my 2 cents: with an xDrive car, you want all four tires to be identical.

I had a friend that had DUNLOP SP WINTER SPORT M3 and he was very happy with them. I just got some winter tires for myself and was about to go with them based on rather good reviews here, however where I am currently living they didn't have them in stock so I went with Continental VikingContact 5.

Like SilberGrauE60 mentioned it might be best for all 4 tires to be identical on an xDrive.

thanks guys! ... yes, the need for 4 instead of 2 has been playing on this decision. okay, so continuing with this information presents itself with winter [snow] and less loss of performance on dry pavement. the winters here can be deep snowfalls [will not be driven in this condition], but usually 2-5 inch with alot of sloppy slushy stuff except february which can be fairly icey.

I have 4 cars, two are fitted with Blizzaks, two with Cont's...............I have to say the conti's inspire more confidence in snow and ice

I've used UHP All-Season on my 530xi with good success here in Southern NJ. However, if you have to go no matter how much snow, dedicated snows on all four will get you there and back. Blizzaks get strong reviews as do the Alpines. If you haven't done the deal yet, click through the link in my signature for an additional 4% rebate from TireRack and similar at other on-line stores.
